Frequently Asked Questions about Catering at Caboose Farm

How do I get my catering request started after I have booked at Caboose Farm?

Please email Monica@caboosefarm.net and one of our catering staff members will be in contact with you.

Do you have a price list?

Our event menus are custom designed for your specific event.  As such, we will prepare a personalized proposal for your budget. The factors that affect the price of an event include the number and kind of menu choices, number of guests, length of the event as well as number of staff required. We try our best to accommodate your budget. Our goal is to give you the fairest price, best ingredients, and exceptional service based on your specific needs.

Do you provide bartenders and servers and how many will be needed for my event?

Yes. Our bartenders and servers are trained, professional, and just plain nice! As a general rule, you need to allow one bartender per 100 guests for just beer and wine bars and one bartender per 75 guests for full bar service. As a general rule, we provide one server for every 25 people for a buffet service. We provide one server for every 20  people at a sit down dinner. However, the server ratio depends on how formal or complicated the event is and may be reduced or increased, depending on these factors. A lavish six course, sit-down dinner may require one server per 10-12 guests or a very simple buffet many only require 1 server for every 35 people. Using your event details, we will recommend the minimum number of servers required based on our experience. Our goal is to make your event run smoothly; therefore we have a 2 server and 1 bartender minimum for events.

Besides the cost of food, what charges can I expect for a catered event?

When we provide you with your customized menu, we list all of our charges to provide you with a complete estimate. In addition to the per person price for food we include the following in each estimate: $30 per hour per bartender (if alcohol is to be served), a small bar fee for garnishes and mixers based upon your drink and alcohol choices, and 20% gratuity and labor charges for catering staff and Executive Chef.  We charge for our staff by the hour, based on a five hour minimum per staff person. We do our best to estimate the amount of time that our staff will be needed for your event. However, since many variables exist, the final cost is based on the actual time worked.

What about rentals?

All linens and dinnerware is additional and will be discussed with Colby during your event contract signing. We would be happy to discuss options and pricing for upgrades or additional rentals with you.

Do you offer tastings?

We have started to offer seasonal tastings in which couples who are interested in the property or those already booked will have the opportunity to come to Caboose Farm and enjoy items prepared by Monica Kelso and her team while also being able to tour the grounds and the houses again. These tastings will be advertised a few months in advance and will be in the spring and fall seasons most likely depending on event schedule.

Can you provide for vegetarian, vegan or other special dietary needs?  How about different genres and ethnic foods?

We have wide variety of vegetarian, vegan and other special needs menu items.  Our Executive Chef is well versed in many genres and ethnic foods.  We will discuss your dietary and specialty needs and suggest a menu that will be suitable for you and your guests.

Can we provide our own alcohol?

Yes, and Caboose Farm will provide the bartender(s).
